Months ago, a friend sent me a link on youtube. It was a music video clip from a movie with Sarah Brightman (Phantom of the Opera), singing in it, though she was dressed goth-like which was a real change. The song was called 'Chase The Morning' and the music and look was interesting, and I came back to the video a number of times but forgot about it after a while.

Last Sunday, my cousin came to my house, and she told me about a song that she fell in love with from a movie called "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (She had yet to see the movie). I thought the title sounded familiar, so while she was searching for a video of that song, I searched for the one from months ago and I discovered it was, in fact, the same movie. Then my cousin showed me the video of the second song.....

I will just say I fell in love with it. 'Zydrate Anatomy' had a great beat, and Terrance Zdunich, who plays Graverobber (who also co-wrote the movie and music), had an amazing voice. I had the song stuck in my head for days (in a good way).

Later that night, I showed the video to my friend who had shown me the first one originally, and he seemed to really like it as well. The two of us are something of cult classic nuts (especially ones that have singing) and "Repo" was billed as an instant cult classic. I checked out one more song from the movie, 'Night Surgeon' if I remember correctly, and I decided right then, I was going to buy the movie. I promptly headed to the Best Buy site to check the availability at the local store, and 2 days later, went and bought it.

I didn't get a chance to watch it till much later that night so the whole day I was wondering if I had wasted money on something I wouldn't like. I had seen it was from the producers of Saw which worried me, I have vowed never to watch those movies because I don't like torture. When I got online that night, I instantly started talking to my friend. He had bought the movie the same day and had already watched it once. I just had to ask him if he thought I would like it. He said he thought I would like it.

I now have to say I love it. It has joined my top tier of movie favourites along with Rocky Horror and Phantom of the Paradise (I did say I was a bit of a cult classic nut!). "Repo" may perhaps even succeed them on my list!

It's an amazing and at the end, touching futuristic story about a world addicted to surgery. Anyone can get surgery and pay off their organs over time... but if they can't pay... the Repo Man comes to repossess the organs! The story focuses on a young girl with a blood disease who longs to go out into the world and ends up finding her simple life with a caring and sometimes overbearing father is far more than she ever expected.

I don't want to give too much away so I'll just list the main actors.
Alexa Vega, Paul Sorvino, Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Brightman, Paris Hilton, Terrance Zdunich.

I know some people will not believe this but Paris Hilton actually does a great job in her part, I can say I was surprised! Also, Anthony Stewart Head... I used to be a great fan of the Buffy TV series that he was on.. and after seeing the Buffy musical episode, I knew he could sing.. but I was blown away by him in "Repo". At times he is so sorrowful... and at other times.. downright scary!

To close this up, to anyone who likes things that are a bit different from the norm, I really recommend you look into this movie. Watch it at least once, and if you like it, support it. If it picks up and does well, they may make a sequel or prequel, which I am really hoping for. It's a great movie!
